Senators-at-Large

Elections for Senators-at-Large are conducted after the elections of the Executive Officers, before the first of May of each academic year.

Academic Affairs Committee Chair

The Academic Affairs Committee Chair is responsible for overseeing all matters pertaining to Academic Affairs that are brought before the Student Senate. In addition to chairing the Academic Affairs Committee, the Academic Affairs Committee Chair attends the meetings of the Faculty Senate and acts as the liaison between the Faculty Senate and the Student Senate. He or she serves as the student representative to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Buildings and Grounds Liaison

The Buildings and Grounds Liaison is responsible for addressing the physical nature of the University and its interaction with the Student Body. He or she meets regularly with representatives from Facilities, Physical Plant, Security and Dining Services and serves as the student representative to the Building and Grounds Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Campus Advancement Committee Chair

The Campus Advancement Committee Chair is responsible for overseeing the research and planning for new programs and initiatives the Student Senate can bring to and implement at Drake University.

Community Outreach Liaison

The Community Outreach Liaison is responsible for planning at least one major community outreach event each semester. Each event is open to all students, faculty and staff at Drake University, as well as to members of the community. The Community Outreach Liaison also attends the meetings of the Campus Advancement Committee and the Drake Neighborhood Task Force and seeks to collaborate with other community outreach organizations, initiatives and offices at Drake University.

Diversity Interest Senator-at-Large

The Diversity Interest Senator-at-Large is responsible for coordinating the activities and initiatives of the Diversity Interest Senators. He or she also participates in the monthly UNITY Table meetings.

Organizational Council Chair

The Organizational Council chair is responsible for coordinating the activities and initiatives of the Organizational Senators. He or she oversees all matters arising from the Organizational Council and the needs of student organizations.

Student Affairs Committee Chair

The Student Affairs Committee Chair is responsible for overseeing, reviewing and monitoring the activities, policies and programs of the division of Student Life as well as those relating to student organizations. In addition to chairing the Student Affairs Committee, the Student Affairs Committee Chair coordinates the annual Diversity Convention. He or she serves as the student representative to the Athletic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Student Body Treasurer/Student Fees Allocation Committee Chair

In addition to chairing the Student Fees Allocation Committee, the Student Body Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the Student Development Fund, the annual budgets of annually funded organizations and the budget of the Board of Student Communications. He or she also monitors the Student Senate Reserve Fund. The Student Body Treasurer brings recommendations from the Student Fees Allocation Committee before the Student Senate for approval. He or she is also responsible for evaluating the Student Activity Fee in the fall semester to ensure the Fee will appropriately provide for student and organizational expenditures for the upcoming academic year. He or she serves as the student representative to the Business, Finance, and Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Student Services Committee Chair

The Student Services Committee Chair is responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of all programs and initiatives referred to the Student Services Committee by the Campus Advancement Committee or the Student Senate.

Technology Liaison

The Technology Liaison is responsible for overseeing all matters related to campus technology. He or she meets regularly with the Chief Information Technology Officer and is a voting member of the Board of Student Communications (BSC).
