The Student Affairs Committee Chair is responsible for overseeing, reviewing and monitoring the activities, policies and programs of the division of Student Life as well as those relating to student organizations. In addition to chairing the Student Affairs Committee, the Student Affairs Committee Chair coordinates the annual Diversity Convention. He or she serves as the student representative to the Athletic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees.

This semester has definitely kept the Student Affairs Committee very busy with an explosion of new student organizations at the very beginning of the year. We have been kept very busy compared to previous years, so it’s been exciting every week at our meetings. Here is an up to date list of all of the new organizations that we have approved this year so far.

I have made a few changes so far this year, and I plan to implement some more new ideas next semester when the committee has more time to work on them. This year I started sending out Congratulations emails to all of the organizations after we approved them at Senate as a whole. I send them a copy of a campus reservations guide, the OC’s meeting schedule, the SFAC one time funding form, a list of SLC resources available to them, information about getting a mailbox in SLC, and a Sodexo student catering guide.
